Matthew S. Hallett is a design manager, preservation advocate, and founder of HALLETT & Co., a full-service design management firm based in Savannah, Georgia. For over twenty years, he has led custom design projects for residential, commercial, and cultural spaces along the East Coast.

His work, recognized with multiple Historic Preservation Awards from the Historic Savannah Foundation, highlights his expertise in preserving architectural heritage while thoughtfully adapting spaces for modern living. Notable projects include the 2024 restoration of The John Assendorf House, an 1870 townhouse on Savannah's iconic Jones Street; the 2019 restoration and remodel of The Fairfax Residence, a stunning revival of a 1950s mid-century modern home; and the 2015 transformation of a long-neglected 1925 Standard Oil Company gas station into a preserved landmark, which also earned the Golden Broom Award from the Savannah Development and Renewal Authority in 2015.

An active community leader, Matthew currently serves as Board President of the Savannah Tree Foundation, is an At-Large Post 1 Appointee on the City of Savannah's Traffic Calming Committee, and is a member of the Central Residential Historic District Committee in Eastport, Maine. He has previously served on the boards of the Habersham Village Neighborhood Alliance, Savannah Downtown Neighborhood Association, the Historic Savannah Foundation - Education Committee, and led the Local Host Committee in bringing the Congress for New Urbanism to Savannah in May 2018. Matthew is a graduate of the Leadership Savannah Class of 2018-2019 and studied architecture and furniture design at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

Matthew is of mixed Canadian-American heritage, born and raised in rural Maine. He made Savannah, Georgia, his home in 1994, where he met his husband, renowned fine art painter Daniel E. Smith, whose work is in distinguished private and museum collections worldwide. Together for over twenty-five years, Matthew and Daniel divide their time between Savannah and Eastport, Maine, alongside their rescue Yorkie, Wylly.
